The Bats is the unified home of South Africa's airborne fraternity, bringing together veteran and serving Paratroopers under one respected community. Built on a legacy of courage, professionalism, and sacrifice, the organisation honours the men and women who have earned the title "Parabat" through service. From operations across Southern and Central Africa to missions closer to home, generations of Parabats have established a reputation for excellence, resilience, and unwavering commitment, creating a proud heritage that continues to inspire current and future members.

Driven by the Restore the Glory initiative, The Bats is dedicated to preserving and celebrating the history, traditions, and identity of the airborne community. Working alongside the leadership of 44 Parachute Regiment, veteran members have undertaken major heritage restoration projects, including the refurbishment of iconic landmarks, the development of military museum exhibits, and the enhancement of regimental facilities. Beyond these physical projects, The Bats serves as the central platform that unites the airborne community, streamlining communication, strengthening camaraderie, and ensuring that the legacy of Africa's Iron Fist is preserved for generations to come.
